DIASTAT LEGISLATION UPDATE

Many thanks to everyone who have been sending letters of support for Senate Bill 1051(Huff), which would allow nonmedical school personnel to administer Diastat in a school setting when a nurse is not available.  On May 19, the Board of Registered Nurses met to determine whether or not they would support the bill. The following link is to an article that appeared in the OC Register reporting on the meeting.

http://www.ocregister.com/news/bill-249505-board-nursing.html

Many thanks to all the parents who came to the meeting to register their public comments to encourage the BRN to support the bill. While the BRN chose not to support SB1051, the bill continues to move through the legilative process.

YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT IS STILL NEEDED TO HELP PASS SB1051.

We will continue to send updates and ACTION ALERTS to keep our members informed. If you are not currently receiving our ACTION ALERTS and would like to join our mailing list, please send an email to info@epilepsyalliance.org.

Click here for “Talking Points” to help you fully understand the issue and communicate your support.
