About the Epilepsy Alliance
of Orange County
Twelve
years ago, Jill and Naldo Cabanillas and Mary and Craig Repp, two families of children with epilepsy, realizing the lack of services
in Orange County and seeking to network with other families, decided to start
a support group. From these seeds of hope a parents' group sprouted and
grew. As this little group flourished, more and more people were helped,
and the group expanded. Three years later, the group started a campaign
with local hospitals for better medical care for children with epilepsy in Orange
County, resulting in two local epilepsy centers staffed by neurologists who specialize
in epilepsy.
Today in our own backyard there are services and programs
for children and adults with epilepsy, including support groups in two languages,
epilepsy information classes, ongoing community and professional presentations, information and referral services, assistance with education planning, a teen social club, referrals
to epileptologists, and individual advocacy.
Epilepsy
Alliance of Orange County is a community-based organization specifically
addressing the needs of children and adults with epilepsy and their families in Orange County. It was created to empower those fighting against this life-altering condition
to achieve the ultimate goal of becoming seizure-free.
The Epilepsy Alliance of Orange County is a project of Community Partners,
a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as our fiscal sponsor. To learn more go to www.CommunityPartners.org.
